Hi! My name is Tara Welch and I am really looking forward to the discussions we will have in class. I hope this blog will be enjoyable to read and helpful to whoever finds it.
For this week's blog post, I have decided to focus on the article “The Importance of a Father in a Child’s Life.” This article was written by the Pediatrics Associates of Franklin. This article starts off with the sentence, “anyone can father a child, but being a dad takes a lifetime.” I really like this sentence because, in my opinion, it takes a really special man to be a good father. There are so many men out there that don’t deserve to be a father and their children, likewise, deserve to have a good father in their lives. Whether we notice it or not, fathers have a great impact on a child’s life that can shape how we become. Father’s and emotional development. Just like how as children, we turn to our mothers for nurturing and care, children look to their fathers to lay down the rules and to enforce them. Children also tend to look to their fathers for a feeling of security, both physically and emotionally. Usually, when little kids are scared from a nightmare or
I don’t think I ever understood the importance of the different roles people play in the family system. I have seen so many different examples in my life of families that are so different compared to how I was raised. Some examples that we went over in class were how in most families the “leaders” of the family are the parents. In other families, the leaders are the children and they run the house. In my family, I would agree that the parents are the leaders. In my opinion, I think it is better if the parents have a hold on the family. I have seen a lot of examples where the kids are the leaders of the family and in most circumstances, those families have a lot more chaos. I have also seen that those kids end up a bit more bratty and rude because they are used to always getting their way. I think a family should have rules set and discipline in place just so people can learn the lesson of their actions and their consequences. Another example is how every child has a parent th
This week I learned a lot about the family. I thought I knew all about the family but after this week, I realize that I was missing a lot of information. Last week I learned that in the 1980s, a book was published that made a lot of people scared to have a family. It talked about how if we overpopulated the earth, we will run out of fossil fuels and the earth simply wouldn't be able to survive. At the time of the release of the book, the population of the earth was four to five billion people. It is crazy to think that someone wrote that book when the population was almost half of what it is now. Yes, these worries are still valid but we just have to have faith in the Lord and to not live our lives in fear. This topic of discussion leads to the world’s point of view of a family. Based on what we see in our own lives and based on studies, we can clearly see what the world thinks about the family. Some examples are you don’t have to marry your partner to live with them. The wo
